Enjoying Being A Tourist!

We've had company from out of town this week and it's been great fun showing them our favorite spots in and around the city. I try to remind myself daily what a paradise I live in but sometimes it takes acting like a tourist to remember why so many people come here all year long to enjoy America's Finest City. From Legoland to Balboa Park to eating our favorite dinner - Sushi we love this city and more importantly love showing it off!

Happy 4th!

Here's to the good ol' USA! I'm having a bit of a Martha f*cking Stewart at the moment! 4th of July for us usually means a menu similar to Thanksgiving in that its one you don't have to think about - burgers, dogs, homemade potato salad, and churning ice cream. The only thing that is the same this year is the ice cream! It's been horribly hot here so we've had our fill of burgers and dogs already and quite frankly peeling and cooking potatoes is the last thing I want to do today.

So it's beer can up the butt chicken for us on the grill, baked beans (cooked outside as well), fruit salad, corn on the cob, patriotic cupcakes and ice cream. Fireworks on the bay later on tonight. I'm kind of digging this middle of the week holiday. Most of all I'm proud to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave! Happy 231st birthday USA!
