Lights, Camera, ACTION!

The papparazzi were going crazy in T-town last night as the very coolest of the cool ladies made their way to Susie's First Annual Oscar Party.

Smiles and jewels were all the rage on the red carpet.

And can we just give a shout out to the only invited "guy" at the event - our beloved Oscar! Everyone enjoyed having their way with him:

Everyone looked fabulous, the food was awesome and can we just say how much we liked our Lemon Drops? Thanks Peg! We can hardly wait for next year! Now off to see "Slumdog Millionaire"!

Why Do Holiday Weekends Have to End?

Especially when they happen at one of my favorite places on Earth? We are just back from 4 glorious days in Aspendell with the Blankinships and the McBeths. Snow, snow everywhere and more coming as we slowly left hoping we didn't have to use our chains! I feel such a sense of peace when I am in the presence of these wonderful mountains. Today it is back to the grind and I'll be dreaming of my next time I can escape to paradise!

Just For You Karen!

My pal Karen has tagged me in her blog. I think tagging in the blogging world is like "forwards" in email. I'm not a good one for forwarding email and I'm even worse at tagging! This one intrigued me plus I love Karen so I'm taking the challenge.

Here's the challenge: go to the spot where you store your photos on your computer and find the sixth folder and the sixth photo inside and tell a story about that photo. My photo was taken last December right before Christmas. That's my pal Susie at her house hosting a party for our pal Peg who was turning 60. We had such a blast, mostly because we turned almost all of the cooking over to Andrew who did a phenomenal job! Susie and I work very well together. She's the only friend I have that is even more over the top anal than I am!

Karen should get a kick out of this photo because when she was here she got the chance to meet Susie so she found out what a couple of goofballs we can be when we are together!

Can't Stop Organzing!

What is wrong with me? I had a perfectly well working scrap room and all I had to do was see all those magazines that come out every January – you know the ones – “Organize Your Life”; “Make Life Simpler”, etc. Poof! Now I have spent the last two weekends organizing a perfectly good space. Is that what they call reorganizing? Ok let me take you back a few weeks . . .
How it used to be. Plenty of access to paper, embellishments, ink, etc. All the things I love! Why oh why did I have to disturb things? so here's the after effects:

To the untrained eye it looks the same, but believe me my achy muscles say other wise! here's a closer look:

I decided instead of the tower of paper I needed to have the paper right above me. I don't know why? So my ass can get even bigger since I know longer have to stand up to get any piece I want? I don't know what's wrong with me. Here's anther new addition to the reorganized desk, I finally have room for a phone extension!
Those of you with the number call me! After all, we know I'm not scrapping!

Happy Birthday Mom!

She's the heart, soul and head of this family and I'm proud to call her my mom. She also happens to be 86 years young today!

I wonder if the groundhog near her saw his shadow this morning?

Happy Birthday Mom!

New Year New Me!

In the craziness of the New Year I have not been good about keeping up with my blogging. Had to attend to a few things for myself these first few days of the New Year but I'm back now and ready to start fresh. I have so much to be thankful for and I really want to concentrate on that this year. I look back over the last few years and it seems to me that there has been too much energy wasted by me wanting things that really will not make my life that much better. I want to live more simply and truly appreciate what I have right now.
To make it official here is my 2009 list of resolutions. God willing I will be able to check off in 2010 that I was able to keep all of these:
1. Be a better friend. Try not to let life get in the way of friendships.
2. Strive to be on time.
3. Be more organized at home.
4. Don’t be so quick to talk yourself out of going to the gym.
5. Enjoy something everyday.

Christmas Update!

So we are back from a fabulous "frozen" Christmas in the Pacific Northwest. That area may know how to handle buckets of rain, but snow is definitely another story. This was the perfect Christmas to be housebound for three days as we had not seen each other in quite awhile and we had great fun catching up, playing games and celebrating the holiday! Finally the day after Christmas the rain came and helped to melt away some of the snow and the roads were clear enough for us to venture out to the Columbia River.

We had a great lunch courtesy of my mom. The folks at Beaches in Vancouver were so hospitable - and seemed genuinely glad to see people finally venturing out.

Oh and this guy in the purple Michelin Man coat is none other than my dorky sweetheart clowning around in front of the river. I'm sure no one will find it had to believe that this guy has had that coat longer than we have been married! When you consider he only brings it out, at most, 2 times a year the coat still has a very long life. But why , oh why did he have to buy the purple one?

Unlike other parts of the country, the western areas of the Pacific Northwest don't use salt on the roads and the plows are few and far between. All in all we were fortunate as our flights both ways were virtually unaffected by weather. As for my 85 year old mom, she had the weather to contend with in a major way! Originally she was to have left on the Sunday before Christmas but as that was the day of the biggest snowfall, her flight was cancelled and she was re-booked for a flight on Christmas Eve. It turned into something directly out of "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" as her 2 hour flight ended up taking her more than 15 hours and she didn't reach us until 1:15am on Christmas morning! This will definitely be a year of snow none of us will soon forget.

We are home now and all of my lovely Christmas decorations around the house have now turned into Christmas sh!t!

I absolutely love putting all the stuff out and as much as I love putting it out I truly hate putting it away. I have made a bargain with myself that I can scrap all I want for the rest of the weekend once I get the Christmas stuff put away. I must get going on this because my over 200+ pictures from Christmas are begging to be scrapped and I'm starting to have withdrawals having not scrapped in over a week!

As I put the Christmas goodies away today I will reflect on the past year and start to think about what I want in the upcoming year.

Stay tuned!
