Yummy - Now I Just Need A Name For It!

We had a random potluck for the dinner group last night - no theme just bring whatever you would like! I jumped on the chance to bring dessert but then couldn't narrow down anything to just one choice. Thanks to Merridy, she helped me come up with this spectacular taste sensation! Here's the recipe:

Chocolate Cookie Crust
22-25 Oreo cookies
3 T. butter, melted
Put into food processor and pulse until fine crumbs are formed. Put in 9" springform pan and press up the sides first and then press along the bottom. Set aside.

Brownie Bottom
Take a regular box of brownie mix (I used Betty Crocker) and make according to directions. Carefully pour about 2/3's of the batter into the bottm of the springform pan right on top of the Oreo crumbs. Set aside again. I used the remaining brownie batter to make a small batch of brownies for the kids because we were going out!

Cheesecake Center
I used a filling recipe from Food Network's Food 911 by Tyler Florence:

2 (8-ounce) blocks cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 lemon, zest finely grated
1 pint sour cream

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese on low speed for 1 minute just until smooth and free of any lumps. Gradually add the sugar and beat until creamy, 1 to 2 minutes. Periodically scrape down the sides of the bowl and the beaters. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, and continue to slowly beat until combined. Stir in the vanilla and lemon zest. Blend in the sour cream. The batter should be well mixed but not overbeaten. Overbeating incorporates too much air and will cause the cake to puff when baking, then fall and crack when cooling. Pour filling into the crust-lined brwnie pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in a preheated oven at 325 for 55 minutes. Cool completely (about 2 hours).

Top with 1 can of cherry pie filling and chocolate curls (as you can see from the photo I forgot the chocolate curls!)
